Ethiopa Update – June 2014 – Samson Weldemariam – Country Director

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
(2 Corinthians 4:7)

We are the Jar. The treasure is what God has deposited within us. The jar has no value on it’s own. It’s only value and purpose is the treasure that it contains. We must be awakened to the all- surpassing power that lives on the inside of us, because if we are not, our lives will never reach beyond the level of the jar of clay.

We confirm this scripture to be true in our lives and ministry here in Ethiopia. God has been using us to proclaim the saving gospel to our community and nation and we have seen many lives being transformed by this surpassing power that is exhibited through us.

House of Hope

House of Hope Katito reports that they gave out the goats provided by U4A and also still working ways to get the cow as the rains have been scanty. The border clashes that took place in April/May also disrupted the school since many day schooling children didn’t attend classes.

jim weisert1I try to spend time reading and or attending different lectures, conferences and seminars throughout each year that can help me become a better leader. Last week I attended the 2nd annual International Wholestic Missions Conference in Peoria AZ.

The unique thing about this conference is that the organizational host’s (Global CHE Network) approach to global missions is empowering communities to lift themselves up out of poverty who then train other local communities how to do the same. It is an incredibly successful approach to 21st century missions.

KINALE

Pastor Paul of Kinale Hub reports that the Church has steadily been growing. The youth have increased in number in his Church. Kageraini Church too has been growing since the Church rented a place. The Church is planning baptism, a revival and children dedication in May.

He is glad through the efforts of the Church; they managed to acquire musical instruments. They are praying for Chairs and electricity installation.

The Holy Spirit is the greatest power we have while on this planet. There is no power on this earth that transforms the hearts of the people except the Holy Spirit. We have seen Him changing the lives of many people through the Word of God. What an honor and privilege for me to share with you and testify to His work that He has done in our midst.

I take this opportunity to thank the Holy Spirit for His wonderful and amazing work and for being a faithful comforter when we pass through hard times. Yes, the Spirit is really an amazing comforter indeed!

Eric Stephens and Barry Darnall had an opportunity to visit Kenya from 5th – 17 March 2014. The team spent time in Maasai region with visits to Noosikitok, Lositeti, Enkokidongoi, Lumbwa, Noontoto, Karero, Enoosampurrmpurr and visited Amboseli Park as well.

The team participated in a number of activities: meeting Church leaders from the Baptist Association and shared about Church leadership, donating sanitary pads to Enoosampurrmpurr and Noontoto Schools, donating Maasai Bibles and Chairs to Karero Church, text books to Lumbwa. The team participated in Lunch feeding program at Noosiktiok Shool, and finally a park drive at Amboseli National Park.

A number of us are privileged to know the Saviour of the Lord which we praise God for. However, there remain several others who are not yet part of this wonderful love of the Lord. They too need to taste and see how good the love of the Lord is. God Bless those who are praying, giving or participating in any form to assist in getting the love of God extended to these ones.
