Ethiopa Update – June 2014
Ethiopa Update – June 2014 – Samson Weldemariam – Country Director
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
(2 Corinthians 4:7)
We are the Jar. The treasure is what God has deposited within us. The jar has no value on it’s own. It’s only value and purpose is the treasure that it contains. We must be awakened to the all- surpassing power that lives on the inside of us, because if we are not, our lives will never reach beyond the level of the jar of clay.
We confirm this scripture to be true in our lives and ministry here in Ethiopia. God has been using us to proclaim the saving gospel to our community and nation and we have seen many lives being transformed by this surpassing power that is exhibited through us.
I. We have opened a new training hub in Ziway
We have opened a new training hub in the town called Ziway. The town is located 170KM far from the capital Addis Ababa in the South. More than 90% of its population is Muslim. But, God has given us a breakthrough so that we are able to plant 4 churches in the surrounding villages. Recently we have baptized 50 Muslim converts in one of the villages. God has given a very vibrant church in Ziway, its members are more than 2,000.
We have started our training in the town last month and 56 leaders and local missionaries attended the training. I believe that God will use this hub to equip, train and send many missionaries to reach out to their communities through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

II. The President of our organization( U4A) visited Ethiopia
Rev.Okongo our president visited us last month. He visited our school project in Welenechity town and our new hub in Ziway. He was very happy by the progress of the construction of the class-rooms and discussed with our leaders on the issue of its completion.
Rev. Okongo Visit – the school project in Welenchity
He also visited our new hub in the town called Ziway. He taught the word of God powerfully to our leaders and ministers and to our congregation. The church and the leaders were very encouraged by his powerful message. He taught them to fear not, be steadfast and march forward to fight the good fight. His life and ministry testimony and experience has touched many of them to stand in their faith no matter what they are facing. The church was so happy by his ministry and has blessed him and his ministry. Even though they are poor but from their deepest poverty they gave and supported him. He was so happy and respected them by receiving their heart with a humble heart.
