We believe in education for girls. Menstruation should not stop that. When the girls of a community are educated the cycle of poverty in a community begins to loosen its grip.
Unite 4 Africa provides female students with hygiene products as well as access to health education. In many remote communities across Africa, once girls start menstruation, they will stay home from school during their period because of a lack of hygiene supplies. These girls fall behind in their studies causing many to drop out. Desperate to attend school, some will sacrifice their dignity to secure feminine hygiene products. Meaning, they will have sex in exchange for supplies. Others use old rags and some use corn husks to serve as a method of sanitary hygiene leading to disease and infection. This is an unacceptable situation that can be solved.
Our goal is provide each girl with 12 packs of sanitary pads, which is a one year supply. Through the Women Cycle Of Life Training, we provide information on feminine health issues and how to use sanitary pads.
This simple but profound solution makes a life-altering impact on the lives of young girls.
Please join us in empower girls education today through sanitary pads.
