Ghana Update – March 2014 – Samson Abukari U4A Director, Ghana
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. (John 10:16 ESV)
Introduction
A number of us are privileged to know the Saviour of the Lord which we praise God for. However, there remain several others who are not yet part of this wonderful love of the Lord. They too need to taste and see how good the love of the Lord is. God Bless those who are praying, giving or participating in any form to assist in getting the love of God extended to these ones. May your efforts continue to yield good results in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Meeting with Presbyterian Leadership
A meeting was held with the leadership of the Tamale Rural District of the Presbyterian Church to share with them what U4A is doing in terms of reaching out to the unreached through Bible Storytelling and the CHE approach. Both the district Pastor and the entire leadership were very excited to hear of the approach adopted by U4A. They therefore, promised to discuss among themselves and to get back to U4A in order for Bridges training to be conducted for them.
Follow up visit to Kpalgigbuni
A visit was made to the Kpalgigbuni community to fraternize with them. It was a great joy meeting with them and sharing words of encouragement with one another. They encouraged us and we also encouraged them. We had the opportunity to visit the current water source for the community and was very moved for what our brethren in that community are going through with regards to access to potable drinking water. Both animals and humans are competing for water from the same source and as a result, water from the dug out is so milky in color even though water is suppose to be colorless.
Follow up visit to Najong No.1
A follow up visit was made to Najong No. 1 for fellowship and to get acquainted with the new Pastor who took over from the Pastor who was the hub leader for the area. We also had the opportunity to encourage some of the Sunday School Teachers of the Assemblies of God Church who had gathered for a Sunday rally on that day.
Baseline Survey
With the assistance of Philip and Jonah of the Kpachani community a baseline survey was conducted for the community. The main issues which the survey sort to find out included knowledge of the women about malaria and its management, and basic sanitation among others. The finding will be analyzed and will assist us in carrying out a CHE training in the subsequent months for the community.
Bridges Training
By the grace of God we were able to carry out Bridges I training for Pastors and Church Leaders at Savelugu. A total of 25 people participated in the training. Apart from the training participants made some resolutions to see how they can regularly meet for corporate prayer and other activities that can equip them to be more effective in their leadership.
partnership
We are calling on everyone who is seeking to partner with U4A in reaching out to the unreached. You will not regret for partnering with us in prayer, giving, sponsoring monthly or projects and you could also join a short term team for a trip to the field in any of the countries that we operate.
Prayer Needs
• Prayer for Okongo and the SIU team visit to Ghana
• SIU film shoot in Northern Ghana
