CHALLENGES FOR GIRLS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a tremendous effect on school going girls in many communities where education is already not a priority, it is affecting girls’ education. Thousands of girls are out of school, most of them adolescent who have become mothers.  A lot needs to be done in these communities in terms of quality of and access to education, and COVID-19 worsens a situation that is already bad. In Kenya, this period of pandemic, statistics already show an increased number of school dropouts by adolescent girls due to forced marriages and teenage pregnancies.

School has long been a safe haven for vulnerable girls. Those who were in boarding schools received support and protection from the government. But now that they are confined to their homes, what will happen? Most girls have no food, basic supplies like sanitary towels nor the resources to study from home. Unfortunately, many vulnerable girls have been exposed to harmful cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation and early or forced marriage.

Over this period going forward, our focus is, on advocating and talking about the importance of keeping girls in school and building awareness on proper hygiene and how to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is girls’ education that produces exceptional gains in areas of health, infant mortality and the economic well-being of families. We held our first meeting at Olgulului, Soul Winning Church. With almost 100 girls and mothers to sensitize on importance of girls health and education and harmful cultural practices such as FGM. We gave out sanitary pads to all the girls, masks and some food for mothers.

PASTOR EMPOWERMENT

Local pastors in the Maasai and other rural communities face a lot of challenges doing evangelism and reaching members who stay kilometers’ away from the church. It is because of this reason; Unite 4 Africa has been empowering pastors with Motorbikes so that pastors can do ministry work effectively and can support family in fetching water and easy transport to local market. In the month of July, Titus from Ololepo Baptist was blessed by U4A with a Motorbike to do ministry.

FOOD RELIEF FOR NEEDY COMMUNITIES

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the fragility of not only our health systems and economies but also our food systems. The concern is that thousands of families face months, if not years of uncertainty over the next meal. Finding food has been a constant challenge in recent months for many local communities. It is for this reason, Unite 4 Africa and its partners are supporting feeding of vulnerable and most needy families among the Maasai in Kenya.

Kenya Update – July 2020

Even as there are emerging signs of optimism in combating COVID-19, the demands of this season on local pastors and church leaders in Africa, are not likely to lessen in the near future.

As restrictions to contain the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak spread to countries around the world, we all need to live out the Reformation principle of “ecclesia semper reformanda” (the church in ongoing process of reforming) as we find new ways of gathering in Jesus’ name. I believe God desires to see a genesis of gospel growth on the other side of this crisis like the world has never seen. Now is our time to pray, prepare, and mobilize! Unite 4 Africa is positioned to teach what a Biblical disciple looks like, as we focus on empowering the local leaders to minister to their own communities. 

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT – RELIEF FOOD

Many local communities in Kenya that are affected by Covid19 are facing economic challenges brought about by the pandemic. Many families now have nothing to depend on. Through our local partners here in Kenya, Unveiling glory helped to give relief food to over (360) three hundred sixty families. Much appreciation goes to Pastor Bob Sjogren through Maurine Kimani for the food support to the Maasai community.

COVID19 SENSITIZATION AND AWARENESS TRAINING – OLEISUSUA, KENYA 

Unite 4 Africa, has been among a few organizations that have taken lead in Kajiado county to help sensitize and bring awareness to the local Maasai, through teaching on the proper ways of washing hands and basic information about Covid19. We have been visiting small groups in villages. In June we visited Oloeisusua village.

ZION BOREHOLE – MAILTISA

We thank God at Zion for the provision of a borehole in this community. It was drilled in February but the spread of Covid19 stopped the construction and installation of the borehole. We thank God it has started again and will be completed soon.

  • Pray for Resia, a girl who is almost losing her both eyes and will need to go for a surgery soon as they get funds. Resia is a member of Zion Baptist and her mother is a widow.

Kenya Update – June 2020

COVID-19 continues to affect every part of the world, disrupting people’s lives, creating fear and hardship. Where can we find strength and hope at this troubling time? What might faith look like in a time of COVID-19? How might God be calling us to respond to the impacts of the pandemic?

Unite 4 Africa is already taking steps to help minimize the spread of the disease through physical distancing and hygiene measures and encouraging people to self-isolate and seek testing when they have symptoms (where available). But it is equally important for all to discern how you can be the hands of Jesus, reaching out to the most vulnerable at this time.

We are praying for our brothers in America at this time for God to intervene and bring normalcy. What happens in the Americas is felt in Africa, what happens in Asia is felt in Europe, and the like. This indicates to us that the people of this world are our brothers and sisters, that we are all one family under God.

What happens to some of us will ultimately have impact on all of us. Our world today desperately needs God’s intervention and an integral solution that encompasses the whole creation. Indeed, we must examine our consciences, return back to God, and hold onto each other with love.

The question we all ask ourselves, is in Micah 6:8

“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

COVID19 SENSITIZATION AND AWARENESS TRAINING – MAILI TISA, KENYA

As the effects of Covid19 continues to be felt in the local communities in Africa, the more the need to reach out and help train and teach those communities that do not read and write on the importance of washing hands and keep hygiene, social distancing and using of Masks. Unite 4Africa has been among first ministries in Kenya to respond and took initiative to provide Buckets and hand washing soap, with training on safety measures among the Maasai community.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT – RELIEF FOOD

With the effect of Covid19 forcing the government to close many sources of livelihood for the Maasai, like cow markets and the Kenya – Tanzania border, many families are facing hard times feeding their children. Unite 4 Africa and other partners like PIPEs and Unveiling Glory have provided food to different communities reaching over 400 families with many depending on them.

PASTOR EMPOWERMENT

Many Pastors go through hardship ministering to the local churches and doing evangelism. This time of Covid19 makes it even harder for the local pastors to reach out and minister to church members and Unite 4 Africa has been in front empowering local leaders and pastors through training and empowerments. This month Pastor James Kilamoi of Oloshaiki Church was blessed by Unite 4 Africa with a new motorcycle. He will be able to reach more for Christ as, he can now travel long distance and will be able also to take his wife with him to Church.

Kenya Update – May 2020

We live in very challenging times that people are trying to make sense of their lives. The coronavirus is something entirely different that it is asking us to do something different. It is separating us from the very people who in other times of stress are there to help us through – our family, our neighbours and our community. We can face these days of fear and testing with hope. These can and should be days of renewed worship, rededicated service, care, friendship and love. We must be alert to the stranger among us and we must love one another and be kind, just as God in Christ has been merciful to us.

In Kenya, we wish you all well. We wish you health and strength. Together we are going to get through this and we will celebrate all the wonder and power of God over all.

“Be of good cheer” Our Lord said, just before His own horrific death on our behalf, “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33)

COVID19 SENSITIZATION AND AWARENESS TRAINING – MAILI TISA, KENYA

As government gives rules and guidelines to follow for good hygiene for self-protection, there is still a lot of the local communities that do not understand and will require someone to explain to them in their native language and demonstrate so they can see. This month Rev Moses Rianto spent some time training on how to sanitize hands to locals and how to wash hands. Some churches are taking initiatives to teach members on these good practices.

EMPOWERING THE LOCAL PASTORS

Many times it is always the pastor that everybody runs to for encouragement. But who encourages the pastor? At this time of coronavirus, many pastors need someone to walk with them, to encourage them as they do ministry, to evangelize, and pray for the needs. We thank With Open Eyes and Cities of refuge for giving hope to the local pastors and providing with food for their families.

ZION BAPTIST – COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

With many market places being closed for safety due to the coronavirus, many locals are suffering for lack of food for their families. We want to thank God and the Unveiling glory ministry for empowering the local community with food items. Over 80 families were helped. There is still huge need and we ask for your prayers.

HOUSE OF HOPE

At this time of coronavirus, House of Hope is taking the initiative to help cushioning widows with food packages and water tanks to help sustain them during this when businesses are closed and there are no jobs.

Kenya Update – April 2020

The world is presently facing a pandemic with the coronavirus (Covid19). This disease is now on every continent. It’s in most countries now and it is spreading person to person around the world. It is for sure a very challenging moment for the church and Christian ministries, to rise up to the occasion as God calls us in the book of 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” I see an opportunity for the Church to seize the moment and seek the Lords guidance, as God has placed in our lives people, Nations to whom we are called to minister and help. Jesus Himself when He saw the misery of mankind under the power of sin and death, did not remain on his heavenly throne, but came down to this world. He made time for us, heal the sick, strengthen the weak and encouraged those without hope.

I believe there are people who are hurting both on the outside physically and in their hearts in need of a Saviour.

HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH TEAM VISIT – KENYA

The people of Kenya are grateful for the love and encouragement from the team. They visited two communities in Maasai and we were blessed. They worshiped with us under a tree church. Prayed for the Church and encouraged the local community to seek God. We thank God for their courage using the rough roads, being rained on. We saw their love for us and we pray for Gods blessing upon their lives and families.

COVID19 – COMMUNITY SENSITIZATION AND EDUCATION

As the Covid19 spread all over the world, here in Kenya some communities do not understand what’s going on and are finding it hard to believe that there is an unseen enemy who is slowly bringing down the economies of the world. It is due this reason that Rev. Moses Rianto in partnership with PIPES int’l offered to go into the community to sensitize on hand washing and other hygiene practices that will help them prevent them from getting the virus. We bought buckets with tap and liquid soap to demonstrate on how they should do it. We pray many well-wishers will come out to help such communities and empower them with knowledge on how they should protect themselves.

Kenya Update – March 2020

WATER WELL FOR ZION – ENGABOLI COMMUNITY

Engaboli community has been without water and many women will walk long distances with donkeys to fetch water. This community has been for years depending on rainwater and water wells from other communities. Mid-February 2020, God blessed this community. With help from a partnership with Rev. Kim from Korea, we were able to drill a borehole and tap underground water. This is going to change the life of this community. Both people and their animals now have access to clean drinking water.

TRAINING PASTORS – EREMIT

Empowering the local pastors and church leaders has been one of our key points in ministry to the unreached. This February over 70 local pastors at Eremit were empowered, encouraged as they serve in the most hard and harsh environment. Some were almost quitting doing ministry because life is hard for them walking long distances with no one encourage. We thank God for uniting us so we can be an encouragement to each other. Please pray for the local pastors in remote areas.

DISCIPLESHIP AND BAPTISM – MAMBOLEO, KISUMU

Rev. Charles led teams to do door evangelism and 37 people gave their lives to Christ. 16 were baptized after teaching them. Rev. Charles also trained a discipleship class of 27 who in turn will help in evangelism and reaching out ministry.

MOTORBIKES FOR PASTORS – MAIROUA

Empowering the local pastors and church leaders with motorbikes to be able to reach more remote areas and those unreached. Through With Open Eyes and Cities of refuge ministries, we were able to give four motorbikes to help serve better and reached unreached in their ministry.

Kenya Update – February 2020

The year 2020 has started well for the pastoralists in Kenya with the heavy rains continue pouring. There has been a lot of water and grass for the animals. This also came with lots of damage and destruction to roads and property. Many have been misplace by the floods. Kenya right now needs prayers. Desert locusts have destroyed lots of grass and farmlands. Please pray that God may provide a lasting solution to control the locusts.

HOUSE OF HOPE

In the month of January we have ministered to both orphans and widows in our community, empowering them so that they can be able to live normal lives like other people. Widows have been making baskets that they can sell for income generating and orphans be empowered with goats. And others have received mosquito nets and mattresses.

MEDICAL OUTREACH AT MAILTISA AND LUMBWA

During the month of January, we had a great opportunity for a medical outreach in two locations, Lumbwa and Mailtisa. We had a visit by the Korean doctors, who use acupuncture for treatment of the many diseases. Over 400 people were treated while a few were referred to local hospitals here for more diagnosis. It was a new experience with Maasai to see how acupuncture treatment is done. Many have testified being healed and others have seen huge improvement in their health.

AUDIO BIBLES IN MAASAI – MAILTISA

During the last year 2019, we partnered with Spear Africa to provide Audio Bibles to Maasai women who could not read and write. And in the month of January, 35 more received Audio bibles in Maasai language. We assessed the impact by receiving testimonies from those who have used it. We see that God it is transforming families. Men and children all gather around the mother to listen to the Audio bible. Some women can even memorize some Bible verses’ by listening to the Audio Bibles.

SALVATION – TURKANA REGION

During the month of December and January, the Baptist Church did lots of evangelism among the Trukana people and now we have over 2000 new converts worshiping in 67 under tree Churches. Please pray for God to help them grow spiritually and the provision to build shelter/roofing for the churches

Kenya Update – January 2020

It is my prayer and hope that all of us had a wonderful Christmas and are blessed in the New Year. At Unite 4 Africa, Kenya, we have every reason to thank God for the year 2019. It was a year of great blessing through U4A International and we are asking our faithful God to bless all of you. In 2019, over 300 people gave their lives to Christ, three new churches planted and two rainwater-harvesting dams constructed. Through partnership, over 20 pastors were empowered with motor bikes to enable them reach the unreached communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. One classroom constructed, sanitary pads for girls and audio Bibles for Maasai women who can’t read or write. In Kenya, we are praying that God takes Unite 4 Africa to greater heights in ministry and that the good Lord may bless you abundantly.

HOUSE OF HOPE – KATITO

During the month of December 2019, House of hope was able to minister to orphans by providing them with a pair of shoes and new school uniforms. House of Hope was able to give 20 goats to Orphans and the needy in the community.

YOUTH CONFERENCE – MAILTISA

In the holiday month of December 2019, we organized a youth conference that so 300 youth attend to be trained and encouraged with the word of God. The youth also were trained on the awareness of career causes that are marketable and easy to get jobs. The Theme from the book of Isaiah 60:1, was inspiring as it encourages to rise and shine for the light has come.

SANITARY PADS

Unite 4 Africa, partnered with other local ministries to provide sanitary pads for young girls. We thank Spear Africa for coming with reusables sanitary pads that are a benefit many young, school-going girls who walk long distance to school.

Kenya Update – December 2019

HOUSE OF HOPE – YOUTH FORUMS

House Hope service to the community in all fields has been tremendous and has seen big transformation both in old and young people. This last month, House of Hope held a youth forum to discuss on issues affecting youth. They talked and challenged the youth on Sex and youth, Education and friendship. many testimonies of those whose lives have been changed through such forums. House of Hope also discussed on financial disciplines and microfinance team for House of Hope. Please continue praying for House of Hope as it impacts the community.

PASTOR EMPOWERMENT – MAILTISA KENYA

Unite 4 Africa has been at the forefront in empowering church leaders and pastors to reach the unreached and be able to minister churches that are far away. In the month of November, Pastor Joel Pasua was blessed with a new motorbike when Rev. Okongo Samson who is U4A president was here visiting the Maasai community. He visited to encourage leaders and churches here. Pastor Joel ministers to church, which is 15 kilometers away from his home. Now he is able to able to serve God more and help his family.

OLOSHAIKI CLASS – MAILITISA KENYA

When Oloshaiki Church was planted, many young kids in this community were not going to school. The pastor and the Church leadership started a nursery for young children who could not walk for long distance to school far from the community. They started under a tree. Then moved to inside church which was hard to convert it into a class and when church is going on, the class is disrupted. Unite 4 Africa president Rev. Okongo visited this community together with the U4A local leadership and saw the need and mobilized resources and now the children in this community have a nice class which gives good environment for learn.

DEVASTATING RAINFALL IN KENYA

Kenya has been receiving a lot of rains from the month Starting mid October to December. This was to a season of short rains but it has rained more than expected and has been raging have with floods, which has done huge destruction of property and displacement of many families. One of our Churches, Zion Baptist is totally cut of from access by road as the floods broke the only road and other paths to this Church. Please God provides away for this road to be fixed, as the government is yet to visit this area despite many reports about the damage. Please pray for many displaced families that living in the cold and others staying with neighbours and well wishers.

Kenya Update – November 2019

DAM WATER HARVESTING

A few years ago the Maasai community in many villages suffered shortage of water and had to travel long distances to get water for drinking and for their animals. When it rained, all the water would be lost because there were no dams to collect. In 2018, we partnered with a Korean NGO called “I Love Africa” to fence, dig dip to widen small dams, build a tank and pipe the water so people and animals can use when it is safe and clean. This has seen lives changed, as women in these villages no longer walk long distances to fetch water and their animals have access to clean water at shorter distance.

COMMUNITY PRAYERS

In the month of October, Rev. Moses Rianto together with other community pastors organized for a prayer of repentance and breaking of Alters. We thank God the community heeded the call to come for repentance and seeking God for all that’s happening in our community. We were overwhelmed for an attendance of 3,500 and when invitation for repentance was done. Over 300 people converted and gave their lives to Christ as their personal Saviour. Please let us all pray for these brethren, that God may direct them to attend a church near them, that they will be natured well in Scriptures.

PASTORS TRAINING – EREMIT IN MAGADI

As many churches are being planted and many local leaders are called by God to serve with local churches, there is huge need for trained pastors to be able to lead well and nurture Christians in scripture. It is due to this need that we are organizing pastors and church leaders to join Bible Training Centre for Pastors, which uses biblical, systematic, portable and comprehensive approach to providing foundational equivalent of a good Bible college to untrained pastors.

PRAYER REQUEST

  • Please pray for children doing final exams in their grade 8 and 12 in Kenya during the rainy season with lots of floods being reported
  • Please pray for water situation at House of Hope. They will need a solar pump to help them pump more water to help the local community

  • Pray for the new converts to grow and have a church they attend so they can be nurtured

Kenya Update – October 2019

WATER WELL IN MAILTISA – SIX YEARS AGO

Six years ago in Mailtisa, Kenya, there was acute shortage of water for both animals and people. And the only public water well (borehole) in the area was taken over by Muslims to use manage and use it at the Mosque. Anyone who wanted to fetch water, she will have to go to the mosque. This provided away for Muslims to do evangelism through free water and other ways of sponsorship and provision of relieve feeding during draught. Unite 4 Africa, through its friends and partners drilled water well at Rev Moses Rianto land and it was named “The Jesus Well” six years later, this Jesus well not only Impacted the lives of many from the community around, but also Rev Rianto family were able to do small farming that has helped to take care of the family in many ways. Please pray that the Lord may continue provide water for needy communities such as this one.

HOUSE OF HOPE CLINIC AND ORPHAN HOME – WIDOWS CONFERENCE

House of Hope planned for a widow’s conference at the Church hall at the clinic compound. Many widows from the surrounding areas of Kandaria and Katito attended the conference. This has been an opportunity to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus, encourage them, check their health and pray with them. Lets all pray for House of Hope as it shines its light in the community and help bring holistic transformation. Pray for water situation at House of Hope to improve or a permanent solution be found.

OLOSHAIKI BAPTIST CHURCH SCHOOL

Oloshaiki Church has been struggling to help young children attend school where they usually worship. The situation was so difficult as many parents bring their kids to school there. They dint have buildings and the Church building was not enough for them. When Rev. Okongo and Shyla visited with team from the US, they were touched to see the situation and they prayed and mobilized resources and now we thank God a nice classroom building is coming up. Please pray that God continue to provide for more classrooms.

Kenya Update – September 2019

September is a big month for literacy, and that includes Adult education and continued education. This month we look back three years and thank God for adults in our Churches who never went to school. This month at Zion Baptist and the communities around it, celebrate the men and women who can now read their Bibles for themselves. This shows the impact the church is having in transforming communities. Bringing help and hope through the Gospel. As we celebrate the World literacy day on the 8th this month of September 2019 lets pray for ways we can empower those who do not know how to read and write.

HOUSE OF HOPE – KATITO OPEN AIR CRUSADE

In the month of August, House Of Hope held an open air crusade at Katito shopping Centre. This gave opportunity to reach those who don’t attend churches on Sundays and gave them opportunity to hear the gospel and accept Jesus Christ in their lives. Seven people converted and accepted Christ in their lives.

NEW CHURCH PLANTED – ESARUNOTO BAPTIST, EMOTOROKI

In the month of August, the Lord led us to do evangelism at a Maasai community called emotoroki, next to a conservancy sixty kilometers away. In this community, children have to wait until they are age ten to start school because that’s when they clearly identify wild animals like Elephants, lions and other dangerous animals. After starting the church, the next thing they asked is help us start a school so that their young kids can attend at near walking distance. Please pray, the Lord provide shelter for this church so that school can start too.

NEW CLASSROOM – OLOSHAIKI BAPTIST CHURCH

The young kids at Oloshaiki Church have been studying at the church building, which is very small and not conducive environment for young learners. Unite 4 Africa team visited early this year 2019, led by Rev Okongo with his wife Shyla. And after praying for few months, the Lord opened a way for construction of a new modern classroom for these young ones. Please pray for this class construction will be completed so that these kids will good place to learn.

MOBILE MESENGERS – EMPOWERING LOCAL PASTORS

Spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ is a challenge with many evangelists and pastors walk long distances and many hours so that the gospel can reach the unreached and more to those who do not deserve. Working with the ministry of “Cities of Refuge” and “With Open Eyes” the local pastor is empowered with a motorcycle to help them minister in most remote areas where vehicles cannot reach, so the gospel of Jesus Christ is spread for all. In the month of August twenty local pastors, through WOE received motorcycles to help them do evangelism and ministry to the unreached.

PRAYER REQUEST

  • Please pray for water situation at House of Hope. They will need a solar pump to help them pump more water to help the local community
  • Please pray for finances to help complete David’s house
  • Pray for the rains in many parts of Kenya
  • Pray that the gospel may continue to be preached to unreached so that lives will be changed for Christ and new churches will be birthed

SANITARY FOR GIRLS – ENGABOLI PRIMARY SCHOOL

The issue surrounding the health and hygiene of the local girls in schools is something that is a concern to many who care and want the local girls to have equal opportunity in education with the boys. Many girls in Maasai land miss classes every month because their parent do not understand or are not able to buy them sanitary towels. Unite 4 Africa has in many occasions supported this sanitary initiative to support Maasai girls continue with education without interference or being shameful and uphold the dignity of a girl. It is with this that we partnered with Engaboli Primary to support the girls in this School with sanitary towels to keep them for few months.

EVANGELISM FOR MEN

There has been a tendency in the Maasai community for men to think that going to Church is for women and children. This has had an effect when evangelizing to reach men is hard because of that perception. This is slowly changing as the few men we have in our churches are waking up with a call to reach other men for Christ in our community. In the month of June Rev. Moses Rianto together with other pastors held meetings with over fifty men with aim of reaching out to men in our communities. Please pray for these men.

ADULT EDUCATION CLASS LAUNCH AT KURKET

Kajiado County in Kenya is one of the counties with high levels of illiteracy. The government, Churches and many Organizations have been trying to find ways to help in Adult literacy. We have had one success at Zion Baptist and this time round with help and support of Challenge Aid Kenya and the county Government of Kajiado; we launched a new Adult class at Kurket. As a way of empowering women. A health and hygiene and entrepreneurship training is also done.

FEEDING PROGRAM – ENGABOLI

Feeding at the local Schools is something that is needed but many schools do not have the capacity to provide for their pupils. It is true that feeding program has helped keep many students at school and encouraged many to join school, so they can get a meal. Unite 4 Africa has been involved in several schools feeding and we have seen many children join school and many improve in their grades as they can concentrate in their learning. We had opportunity to help Engaboli with a few sacs of maize and beans

Kenya Update-May 2019

PETER MPAPA – GOAT BENEFICIARY

In 2012, Unite 4 Africa supported Orphans and vulnerable children with goats in Noosikitok community. Peter Mpapa was already a big boy but was not in school. Unite 4 Africa helped Noosikitok School with a feeding program that saw a big number of new children register to join school. That’s when Peter Mpapa, a big boy already, got interested in joining school. Peter took a bold step to visit Lydia, who is Rev Moses Rianto’s wife on the possibility of joining their school so he can go far from home to avoid the shame of being at the same class with young kids. When Unite 4 Africa supported Orphans with goats, he also received a sheep. The one sheep he received in 2012, he took good care of it and multiplied as years go by. From the one sheep he received, he was able to severally pay for his school fee and buy school uniforms. Peter is living with his mother who is old and has no work. At one point, the county government was issuing allotment letters for plots and peter sold two his goats from the family of the one goat he received to pay for it. In 2018 Peter graduated his primary level (grade 8) again sold his goats to help him join secondary school. It has been challenging for Peter but God has been a blessing through the one goat he received from Unite 4 Africa. It is a challenge for Peter now as Secondary school requires a lot of funds for fees. Please pray for him that God may see him through secondary school and possibly join University.

DOOR-TO-DOOR EVANGELISM – KARERO

During the month of April, Rev Moses Rianto led a group of youth to do evangelism in Karero village. Karero has been in known with Alcoholism and witchcraft. We had three days of evangelism and open-air meetings. The Lord moved in a mighty way and many souls received Christ. 122 converted and we prayed for them and joined the body of Christ. Please that the Lord will water with Holy Spirit so can grow.

WOMEN CONFERENCE – MAILTISA

During April, we had opportunity to partner with Spear Africa and we held one of the most successful women conference yet in Mailtisa. It was a record 125 women in attendance from different denominations in Mailtisa. Spear Africa brought the Unveiling glory team from the US. These Women from Unveiling glory ministry disciple the local women on How to meet with God, How to parent, How to forgive and overcome your past and were challenged to disciple other women from their local churches.

COMMUNITY PRAYERS – OLDOINYO OROK COMMUNITIES

The Long months without rain has seen many Maasai move with their animals in search of pasture. Many cows died and many people were hungry. In several parts of Kenya deaths have been reported for lack of food. It is this desperation that has led the Maasai men to seek the Lord of the Church, as they call it. That the pastors lead them in prayer to seek forgiveness and repent as they seek for rains. Our Church led the prayers for the whole community. God has been faithful that after one week it started raining. Please pray for many families that are at risk, as they still have no food. Maasai men went on their knees in repentance so that God may bless the land.

BAPTISM – OLGULULUI

At the Oloshaiki Church, Olgulului, we baptized 18 new converts and offered them with new Maasai Bibles. They taught about baptism and they could not wait to be Baptist. We thank God and celebrate with them and pray that the Lord will keep them as they grow spiritually.

Kenya Update-April 2019

Medical Camp – Mailtisa Kenya

Unite 4 Africa has been supporting Medical camps in the rural parts of Kenya for many years now. And locals have benefited with specialized treatments and minor surgeries that is only available in the cities and to those who are rich. One particular case brought joy to our hearts to see the mother of a young boy born with cleft lip smile with lots of joy, after surgery to repair was done. She thought it was not possible to repair and was shy to let her son play with other Children.

We are grateful to Unite 4 Africa for bringing a smile to this young boy and the family.

Oletumuke Church and School

What started as Church has turned out to become a huge school. Through Evangelism Oletumuke Church was born and because children use to walk distance to school, the church hosted young kids in two different classes at the same time, with all making noise that the other class is difficult to understand what the teacher is teaching. Provision of porridge increased the number of children attending school at this time, which is dry and hot season. We pray for God to provide classes for these kids so they will have a good learning place and provision of good, clean drinking water.

Empowering Pastors Through Training – Nalepo Baptist, Ngong

Through “With Open Eyes” pastors at Magadi area of Kajiado County have been receiving training to empower them to take the Gospel and empower others. Bishop Simon Kariuki of Cities of Refuge Ministries is leading this. We have had a one on one interaction with pastors on the impact of this training. They confess that this training has opened their minds on the scriptures and it is helping them grow their churches and do more evangelism.
