Note from the Board – John Tabor

 

My worldview has changed because of my involvement with Unite 4 Africa.  Originally I never thought that that would be one result of my volunteering with U4A but alas, it has been one of the benefits of my involvement here…one that I can honestly say has broadened my view of the  world, its people and who I am.

 

Yes, my life has been changed, transformed really.  God is responsible for this change through His people. I see things differently now and I think differently.  I can get out of my mind and assumptions and think and act out of a truer reality. It has made me better; more understanding and stretched. I’ve been blessed more than my life here in the U.S. alone has afforded me, and yes, thankful in my station, thankful and a little bit jealous.

 

How’s that you ask?  Well, first, there is the realization that we are not God’s favorite.  That His love is for everyone equally. And He speaks through those we serve as well as ourselves.  His desire to expand His kingdom through the gospel of Jesus Christ has not diminished but intensified.  His Spirit has drawn us together one to another and with the peoples of Ghana, Kenya and Ethiopia.  He has reordered our priorities.  Out of the morass of life in the west to a simpler life centered on Him.

 

One can’t help but ask who’s being served – really, ourselves or those we want to help?  From God’s point of view and increasingly my point of view, being tutored by the Creator of the Universe is off the chart great, humbling, and something I will cherish for my lifetime. The lesson’s learned all bearing His love and intention.

 

The day I joined the U4A board opened all of this for me. U4A is a sanctified work – one that puts me closer to Him.  It has expanded my definition of God’s love and helped be set things in proper order according to His plan.  Making friends for eternity is one way to look at what we do.  Wow!
