Ethiopa Update – October 2013 – Samson Weldemariam – Country Director
“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One [was] sitting on the throne.” (Rev 4:2)
God is sitting on his throne and he has ultimate control over history; Jesus has won the victory and has redeemed a people from every tribe, tongue and nation. Both God the Father and the Son are to receive unceasing worship, honor, praise and glory.
So no matter what is going on around you or your world, think of John’s heavenly vision. This is what it means to gain a proper perspective.
Based on the truth of the above verses of scripture we have been fighting the good fight despites all the challenges we are facing. By the Grace of God we have accomplished a number of tasks in the past month. The followings are some of the things that we have done for the Glory of God this past month.
I. Leadership graduation in Geferesa town
We had a leadership and mission class in the town called Gefersa .The training has designed to equip our leaders with basic Biblical knowledge in the area of mission and leadership. They came together every month for three days for two years. And we have graduated 58 students. They were happy on that day and we strongly believe that the training will help the church to grow more.

II. Annual general Assembly meeting of Emmanuel United Church of Ethiopia
We conducted our annual general assembly meeting in Addis Ababa last month. More than 100 church leaders gathered together and discussed on various issues. We had also prayer and a time of thanks giving for what God has done in our midst in the past six months.
The report we heard from each region of the country was amazing. I realized that this church planting movement is beyond our control. Its like a fire consuming the Jungle forest and no one can stop it. Praise God. I will give the detail report in our ASP report format.

III. Conducting training and visiting the Wanjishawa school
I have visited the Wanjishawa School and conducted training for the church leaders and workers last month. 15 leaders have attended the training. Basically the training was encouragement training and discussed the challenges and the progress of our work in that community.
I also visited the progress of the School and I was so glad to see the construction of grade 8th classroom and the laboratory room completed. And the school gets the permit and operating freely. The laboratory room contains the few equipments like laboratory testing device and others science kits. But, we need to work more to fill the room with other important equipment.

and Time of Refreshment
IV. Conclusion.
We thank God for the Grace and strength that He has granted us to accomplished His work in our region. I would like to call all our partners to pray for us for the continuation of His Grace upon our lives and ministry so that we may keep doing His work for His Glory. We also have some work to do in the next month according to our plan. We have already received the funding to conduct training in Dawero and Harar areas and to support our orphans. So, pray for us that God will protect us when we go to those Muslim dominant areas to conduct the training. And pray also for the orphans who got the support, may God use this simple gift to transforms their lives.
