Ethiopia: Assessa Region Conference Report

The town Assessa is located 185Km South to Nazareth in west Arsi Zone. 99% of the population is Muslim. The rest is animist and Christian. Few years ago 3 Christians were killed and few churches burnt in the place called Merrarro. But, God is on move in a mighty way in the area. There are 7 new local churches planted in the area despite of all the challenges.

From February 26 – 28 /2012 we had a fire conference. And God has given us a wonderful time.

7 people from Muslim background accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior, many sick people healed from different sicknesses and delivered from various bondages.

By the time we went in the village the believers were in a very desperate situation and many of them were discouraged due to the challenges and persecutions. But, we encourage them with Gods word.

More than 1,000 people have attended the conference and among them were many from Muslim background.

Story

Mengistu is one the local missionaries in the village called Merrarro, dominated by Muslims. They tried to kill him 4 times but God rescued him miraculously. He attended our leadership meeting at the conference and he was encouraged as we also prayed for strength and power to preach the Gospel among unreached in his region. He told the congregation that he is ready to offer his life for the sake of the Gospel. His dedications touched many peoples lives and offer to stand with him to reach many souls.  Please pray for Mengistu our local missionary in Merrarro Region.
