Note from the Board – Rob Reilly
Why Missions?
As a young child sitting in the pews, I remember missionaries occasionally coming to speak at our church. They were usually a retired white couple, smelled different, seemed odd and wore funny clothes from whatever country they were doing “missionary stuff”. The church would pass the offering plate for a “special offering” and then we wouldn’t see them again for another year. This was my understanding of missions.
Many years later as an adult, I read a quote by Charles Spurgeon, “every christian is either a missionary or an imposter.” What a powerful and challenging truth. We are ALL called to be missionaries in the world, in whatever circumstances God has placed us and wherever He directs us. There is only one Mission and we are ALL called to be part of it.
Please consider if God is calling you to be part of the work Unite for Africa is doing. Unite for Africa is focused on raising up, training and empowering Africans to reach their own communities. This includes programs for orphan care, water wells, community health evangelism, oral gospel training and leadership discipling.
You can be as involved as you want with Unite for Africa. Whether you want to come on a trip to Africa with us to see the work first hand or contribute financially, we would love to have you as a partner. The time is now.
John 17:18 says, “As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world”
