Ghana Update – Nov 2014
Ghana Update – Nov 2014 – Samson Abukari U4A Country Director, Ghana
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild beasts will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches, for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people.” (Isaiah 43:19-20 ESV)
Introduction
The Lord is doing something new in our lives but sometimes we cloud our lives with so many past trials and temptations and some cases past disappointments such that we are deprived the opportunity to see what the Lord is doing. It is good to reflect on what the song writer said “count your blessings and name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done”. Open your eyes and begin to see the new things the Lord is doing just around you.
U4A Team Meeting
The U4A Ghana Team met and discussed current activities both ongoing and future ones to see how they could be managed for the effectiveness of the work. Some thought are being considered for the few months left for the year to end and for things anticipated for the New Year to come.
Leadership Retreat
Under the auspices of Hope Alive Initiatives Church Pastors and Leaders retreat was organized for body of Christ in and around Savelugu. Some of the U4A leaders had the privilege to participate in the retreat and to share fellowship with other brethren in the Lord’s vineyard.
Bridges Training
Pastors and Church leaders in the Adiboo community and its surrounding communities were privileged to go through a two day bridges training in the Adiboo Assemblies of God Church near Yendi in Northern Ghana. Over 20 Pastors and Church leaders were taken through the bridges I Bible storytelling training to equip them to become effective witnesses of Christ as well as Church planters.
Re-election as President
Samson Abukari was re-elected as the president of the Ghana International Baptist Convention an indigenous Church movement located in Northern Ghana.
Speaking Engagement
Samson was the guest speaker at the joint meeting of the International Baptist Women Ministry the women’s wing of the Ghana International Baptist Convention. The subject that was considered was “discovering a biblical view about money and wealth” as part of a series that will help members of the ministry to identify ways through which they can effectively manage what they have, invest and multiply it in order to create wealth for themselves, their families and their churches.
Kpaligigbuni Water Project
Initial meeting with the community members have taken place to begin the activities for the construction of a Rain Water System for the Kpalgigbuni community. The project is anticipated to take off in the early part of November.
Opportunity in the Gushegu Area
Isaac and Samson were part of Ghana International Baptist delegation that visited the Gushegu area. There are many opportunities for collaboration between U4A and the International Baptist and other denominations in the area to empower the local churches in the area to become effective Church planters and witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ.
