Ghana Update – Aug 2014 – Samson Abukari U4A Country Director, Ghana
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ‘The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ‘There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 ESV)
Introduction
We are grateful to the Lord for his mercies upon our lives and that of our neighbors. As we strive to love the Lord with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds, it is our prayer that he will grant us the grace to do it well and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Monitoring Visit to Kpachani
We paid a visit to the Kpachani Community to see how they are faring and also check on the Water Catchment systems to see its performance. The community as always were very lively. Most of the people had gone to work on their farms as we are in the farming season of Northern Ghana. This year the rains have delayed and the few that the community was fortunate to be blessed with was not that much for the catchment systems to harvest much water. One of them had collected a little and we are very hopeful that both systems will fill up to capacity in the following months.
The love that has been extended to the community by U4A has brought them a blessing as the community has been selected for the construction of a six unit classroom block to be constructed for them. As at the time of our visit some preparatory work had been done and the construction work is set to commence soon.
Participate in Education Seminar
Samson and Silas had the privilege to participate in an Education Seminar organized by the Kumasi branch of YWAM in collaboration with Teachers of the Nations for School Teachers and Christian leaders in Tamale.
Showing of Man of Peace Movie
We had the privilege to show the Man of Peace movie to 32 Church leaders and Church planters of the Christian Outreach Fellowship in Northern Ghana at Tamale. This was to offer them an opportunity to add the lessons of the movie to the oral communication knowledge of Church Planting for the work that they do.
Prayer Needs
Thanks for always standing with us in prayer. This month we are again calling on you to join us in speaking to God on the following:
♥ Pray for good rains and good heath for the farming season in Northern Ghana as most of the inhabitants are peasant farmers.
♥ Thank God for the Blessing he has brought for the Kpachani community to get a new school building
♥ Pray for the West African Sub-Region for God’s mercy in the outbreak of the Ebola virus in some parts of the region.
Yours in His Vineyard
