Ghana Update – April 2015
Ghana Update – April 2015 – Samson Abukari U4A Country Director, Ghana
“And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.’ (Matthew 18:17-19 ESV)”
Introduction
The season of Easter is here again and as we consciously reflect on the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, may it make a great meaning to us and empower us to be effective witnesses of this great work of Christ in our individual and personal lives.
Outreach
The Ghana team was involved in outreach in 3 different communities (Tamaligu, Bagurigu and Kanshegu). Personal interactions, Bible stories in the form of movies and open crusade were the strategies used to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these communities. The team did this alongside the Moglaa Baptist Church and the Holy Ghost Assemblies of God Churches. 12 persons confessed Christ and several persons had the Holy Spirit working in their hearts as over 200 persons got exposed to the Gospel in these outreaches.
Hosting of U4A President
We were very privileged to host the President of U4A in the person of Samson Okongo and Mike Foster of Scriptures In Use in Ghana. They were indeed a blessing to the Ghana team as they used every opportunity they had to encourage and share possible workable strategies with the team. We had a total of 23 participants for the training.
Mike Foster
Bridges for Neighbors Training
Ghana for the first time had the opportunity to organize the Bridges for Neighbors Training for Church Pastors and Leaders from different denominations. It was a great opportunity to be reminded of the value and power of storytelling and being equipped to tell stories that will expose the “supposed” persons to the power of the Gospel and eventually, lead them to the saving knowledge of Christ.
Ibrahim the Dreamer
We finally had the opportunity to see the final piece of Ibrahim the Dreamer, the story telling movie on reconciliation that SIU and U4A got produced in Northern Ghana in 2014. It was an exciting moment and we are very optimistic that the movie has some good prospects for the Gospel in Northern Ghana and beyond.
Sustainability Program
Samson got the sustainability program he is leading to another dimension and got it organized and set up this website http://www.wwyef.org
