Ethiopa Update – November 2013 – Samson Weldemariam – Country Director
“… The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” (Matthew 4:16)
The song says, “A baby changes everything” which is a true statement. When a baby comes our home life is never the same and because of that young life the world is different. We all have been witness to a baby being born to a young couple or even adopted by a couple and the entirety of their existence was markedly changed by that one little life. It was into a world of darkness that the Christ child came. He came to bring light to the darkness and hope to the world.
The same thing is happening in our region. Through the preaching of the Gospel many people are coming to Christ and get hope and fulfillment in their life. I am always amazed by God how He transforms life.
He is indeed faithful. He is fulfilling His promises in our region by brining light to our communities.
By following the guidance of His Spirit we are committed to prepare leaders and true disciples so that the multitude of believers can live a Christ like life to influence their families and communities.
The following are some of the reports that we have accomplished in the past month.
I. Leadership Training in Shashamane town
Equipping and empowering leaders is one of our key strategies and programs that we are working on. Based on that, I have trained 40 leaders in the town of Shashamane on Servant Leadership. The participants were representatives of the churches in Shsashamane.

II. Bench Maji Zone leadership Training
We have also conducted the same leadership training in Bench Maji zone Mizan twon in South West Ethiopia. More than 50 leaders have attended the training. The focus of the training was to equip our leaders with the concept of servant leadership.

III. Conducted Bridges (Oral Bible Story Telling) Vision Casting in Tigray
Pastor Getahun Abebe is one of our master trainers. Last month We sent him to the northern part of Ethiopia to visit our local churches and to conduct a vision sharing seminar concerning on our Bridges training. He travelled to five different villages in the region and shared with them the vision of bridges. Nearly 30 people attended the vision sharing. We are looking forward to conduct the Bridges training in the future.

IV. Conclusion.
We thank God for the Grace that He has given us to expand His kingdom in our region. I would also like to thank all our partners for standing alongside us in so many ways. Pray for us that God would strengthen us to make more disciples so that the impact of the believers would show up in or community to draw many to Christ.
