Ethiopa Update – February 2013

For us the month of January was the month of refreshment and encouragement. We as a team of master trainers we have handed over what we have planned for the year 2013 to God. We have also conducted a couple of trainings on leadership development.

I. Master trainers meeting and encouragement program.

We had a good time of encouragement with our master trainers January 16 & 26/2013. The aim of the meeting was to encourage one other, to discuss on our challenges and to pray together to hand over all our plans to God as a team.

Pastor,Dr. Bezalem was sharing with us the word of God on the title of how we move from good to great team . He shared with us some principles how we become a great team.

 We had also a good time of praying together as master trainers and discussed on our challenges. We have agreed on some of our challenges such as lack of logistics and also we cannot control the movement of the bridges trainings all parts of the regions. Our trainers and grass root church planters train many other ministers and those who take the trainings also go and train another many more people. Its like a movement and very difficult to do a follow up and reporting for them as well as for us as master trainers. So, we have discussed on this issue and have agreed to create some strategy to address the issue. But, we are grateful to God because He is the one who initiate people to do this training in each and every villages of our region.

II. Leadership development training in Harar

Harar is one of the Islam dominant regions in Ethiopia. 99% of the people in the region are Muslims. It is located more than 500KM far from the Capital Addis Ababa in the eastern part of the country. We deliberately work in that region by focusing on leaders. We believe that if we empower the leaders they will influence the community so that they will be able to transform their own community according to our strategy of U4A. Based on that we choose some relevant and specific topics on leadership and train them by going there in every three months time interval. So, last month I have conducted training on the topic of change and change strategy. 25 leaders not only from harar but also from Diredawa, Jijiga, Jarso and Amaressa towns came and attended the training and it was so wonderful.

III. Conclusion

We are very optimistic for the year 2013 and we strongly believe that God is going to do great things in our midst according to His promises. We are expecting the un-expected things from Him in this year regardless of the challenges and the hard ship that the enemy brings. So, our plan is so big by trusting our Big God. I would like to ask all our partners to join us in your prayers specifically on the following issues:

• • We are going to have a great event of mass baptism in the month of March. We are expecting more than 500 new believers will be baptized. We have baptized 442 people last year. But , these all people do not have Bibles in their local language. So, we want to donate Bibles for all more than 900 people right after they get baptized. So, pray for us may God would provide us a resource so that we will be able to donate them Bibles.
  • Pray for the Welenchity and Donni schools that may God would help us to complete the two class rooms so that they will be able to open grade one by next year
  • Pray for the Wanjishawa school that may God would help them to complete the laboratory room so that they will be able to get a permit paper from the local government to open grade seven class by next year
  • Pray for all our regional and local church leaders and coordinators may God would use them mightily to transform their own community in holistic approach.
