Ethiopa Update – February 2014 – Samson Weldemariam – Country Director
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor…” (Luke 4:18)
Jesus said he came to “preach the gospel” but then he states that he came to release the captives, give sight to the blind and set the oppressed free. That goes way beyond a formula.
Saying God loves you from a bumper sticker or Facebook post is not enough.
As a Christian, we must make it our lifelong and joyful ambition to serve others, to be a conduit for God’s miracles, to comfort the brokenhearted, to fight injustice, to weep with those who mourn and to truly love people the way Jesus did.
I believe this is what it means to preach the gospel! May God help us.
I. Pastors and their wives Seminar & meeting.
We have had a good time of meeting & seminars with our Pastors with their wives. The aim of this seminar was to encourage the Pastors’ wives for what they have been doing to support their husbands in the ministry and to discuss on their challenges as they live together. We also tried to make the event full of fun so that the wives enjoyed spending their time at the conference with their husbands.
The event was held in Nazareth town and about 20 couples attended. Pastor Dr. Bezalem, pastor Gethan and Pastor Dereje lead the training and the event. The Pastors and their wives were very happy about the event and it helped them to revive again their love and relationships. Praise God!
This is the first group of Pastors and their wives to go through this training. We want to continue to hold the same kind of meeting for other two more groups in this year. So, Pray for us to make it happen.

II. Our Students in Welenchity town Celebrated Christmas.
We have organized an event for our students in Welenchity town to celebrate Christmas.
All the Schoolteachers, our leaders and my wife attended the celebration. What a joy to see the orphans celebrated the birth of our Lord Jesus together with the rest of the children. They praised God for His wonderful gift, Jesus Christ and they also experienced the family Spirit by eating together with the School community.
