Note from the Board September 2015
Note from the Board – Ken Martin
How often do you find yourself mulling over all the shortcomings of a business or organization, or a friendship, or your church, or maybe even a family member? Does anything positive ever come from such thoughts? To be sure there are times when something toxic needs to be recognized and faced and dealt with. But it’s all too easy to spend time thinking about the imperfections around us and too little time recognizing all of what is good and able to be appreciated…
It’s a gift from God to see the good before you see the imperfect, and God’s Son displayed this trait repeatedly. The word of God tells us to think on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and worthy of praise in Johns letter to the Philippians after he tells us we ought not to get anxious about things but to pray about our needs and to be thankful in those prayers!
Afterward, Paul talks about being content in whatever condition life may bring. It is such a blessing to witness the hearts of thanksgiving of the men of Unite 4 Africa from the founder to the men on the ground! Not everything goes perfectly with our organization but our staff’s humble hearts are willing to take responsibility, repent and regain their stride; this is such a positive testament to life in Christ being lived out their lives. Positive and effective solutions and practices come when we remove the planks from our eyes and begin to focus on what is being done well and righteously and build on that foundation.
We appreciate very much those who build on this foundation with us.
Thank you and may God strengthen, grow, and prosper you.
