Note from the Board – Scott Genzman – February 2026
Happy 2026 Everyone,
I hope you all had a blessed and peaceful Christmas and New Year’s.
One of the things that the entire Board of Unite 4 Africa discusses and pays attention to on a regular basis is stewardship. We are committed to making sure that any of the resources that we receive are used in the best way possible to bring honor and glory to God.
I’m speaking for myself and not the entire board when I say that I am convinced that I don’t have all or even many of the answers as to exactly how to make sure the resources are used wisely. That is not to say that I don’t ask questions and pay attention to how the resources are used but I am simply acknowledging that with different cultures and rules and regulations in all the countries that Unite 4 Africa operates in, it is difficult to have exactly the right answers.
About six months ago, I asked a wise friend of mine if he could summarize what God asks us to do as we live life. He explained a few things but then summarized his thoughts by saying that we should Trust and Obey God (Trustful Obedience). I have been thinking about this profound but simple statement for the last six months. If you think about it for a while, it can be quite a bit more difficult to do than it first seems. I ask myself often if I truly trust and know God, am I hearing from Him and am I willing to do what He asks me to do. I freely admit that some days I seem to do that well and others not so well. I am a work in progress like we all are.
So, what does Trustful Obedience have to do with Stewardship and my role as a Unite 4 Africa Board member? Everything! Because we as the board members know that the leadership of Unite 4 Africa, starting with Dr Okongo Samson, models Trustful Obedience. Since we are Trusting in God and are led by Him to do His will, naturally projects will be done efficiently and effectively. In other words, good stewardship is interwoven with doing what God is asking the leadership to do.
So, when you read some of the statistics each year about what Unite 4 Africa is able to do with a modest budget, you might think to yourself, like I did when I first heard about Unite 4 Africa, that there is no way those numbers could be correct. However, now that I understand that each project is in alignment with what the leadership of Unite 4 Africa believes God is asking them to do, then everything starts to make sense. Truly tens of thousands are being led to Christ each year as hundreds of thousands hear the Gospel message each year!
Thank you all for trusting us with the resources God has entrusted to you. Please know that all of us on the board and leadership teams are Trusting and Obeying God as He allows all of us to be a part of the change in people’s lives and hearts to His own glory.
