Kenya Update – October 2024
Pastors and Leaders Empowerment
Several years ago, Dr. Okongo started discipling Pastor Yohana Ntengese Meeli. Shortly after, U4A empowered him with a motorbike. This initiative is part of U4A’s ongoing mission to support pastors and enhance their mobility to reach out to their communities, spread the gospel and fulfill their pastoral duties more effectively while still making some money by using the motor bike for taxi services. Now Yohana is able to travel more efficiently between church locations, home visits and outreach missions. Ministry expansion is now a reality because he is able to reach the more remote areas that were previously too far. In addition, his transportation costs are reduced, allowing more resources to be allocated to the church activities.
This is what Pastor Yohana testifies: “I am deeply grateful for the gift of this motorbike. It has not only made my pastoral duties more manageable, but it has also allowed me to connect with members of different communities who had been out of reach for a long time. U4A’s support has strengthened my efforts to spread the gospel and serve the people more effectively and even provide for my family.”
Pastor Yohana is passionate about establishing regular Bible study groups in neighboring and far-off villages as well as follow-up with new believers and provide them with consistent pastoral care. Clearly, the motorbike donation has already had a significant impact on Pastor Yohana’s ministry. We trust that he will continue to bear fruit in the months and years to come. We are thankful to all U4A partners and for the continued support and equipping pastors so as to serve more efficiently.

A Tree is Shaped while it is Still Tender
The title above is a proverb from the Kikuyu community who live around Mt Kenya in the Central region of the country. It is used to mean that character formation is best shaped in childhood. Diversity of approaches in ministry ensures that people of all ages, backgrounds and social status are all reached. In our “shaping the tree while it is still tender,” the U4A Kenya team had a three day challenge in a local girls school in Murang’a County. The students were challenged with Biblical truths hence shaping their perspective about life.
The results were impressive and the team returned with great joy because of what God did for these youngsters. Over 500 girls responded to the call to follow Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
Our team ministered to these girls with hearts full of love and with the fire of the Spirit. Many cried as they confessed their sins under the conviction of the Holy Spirit while others were prayed for and were set free. The Principal and some of the teaching staff testified that it was indeed a turning point for the School.

Men Coneference – Purko Maasai
Unite 4 Africa has been intentional in inspiring men to follow Jesus Christ and to fearlessly commit their lives to love and serve God. Our clarion call has been that Maasai men follow Jesus Christ in every aspect of their lives and keep each other accountable to being men after God’s heart in their homes, workplace and the church.
This last month, our focus was the Purko clan of Maasai, reaching out with the love of God. We are excited with what God is doing in the lives of men here. We are confident that these outreaches to men would bring positive impact in the society to the glory of God.

- Pray for U4A leaders as they continue reaching all those that need to be reached and as they go to communities who are unfriendly to the Gospel.
- Pray that more doors of opportunity for ministry will continue to open in High Schools in the coming days.
- Pray for all who have received Jesus Christ as Lord to continue growing stronger in the faith as they are discipled.
