Appeal Letter 2022
Last month I literally “walked where Jesus walked.” I stood in the Capernaum synagogue where some of his followers abandoned him when his teaching was more than they were willing to accept. A few steps away are the remains of Peter’s home where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and the paralytic man who was lowered through the roof by caring friends.
The pools of Siloam and Bethesda where Jesus healed a blind man and a lame man reminded me again of how He healed my broken emotions years ago. And I stood on the shore of the Sea of Galilee where He calmed the raging storm like he calmed the rage in my heart after my abduction by terrorists.
And I walked up the steps he took as he entered the Temple where he commended the widow for giving her last coin to God’s work. That sacrificial gift reminds me of how thankful I am for you. Regardless of the size of the gift you sow into the work of Unite 4 Africa, I want you to know how much we appreciate you. And I want you to remind you that when you give you are helping us find homes for orphans, bring medical help to the sick, counseling to young victims of abuse, water to the thirsty, and, most importantly, the message of salvation to countless people in desperate need of God’s love and spiritual healing.
The same Jesus who over two thousand years ago walked on this Earth, died for our sins, and was resurrected for our forgiveness is very much alive and working through you today. You’ve been such a faithful friend of Unite 4 Africa with your giving. Your gifts are like the “seeds sown in good soil” Jesus talked about. The physical, emotional, and spiritual healing your “seeds” provide take root each day in the hearts of those we are reaching for Him.
There is so much more ground to sow into. The needs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, and the many other countries in which we serve are great. May I ask you to consider an extra gift this month? Any gift you give today will be so deeply appreciated and will bring the Good News of our resurrected Lord to others who have not yet heard. Thank you for caring and being an important part of what He is still doing in our world today.
Serving Christ with You,
Okongo Samson
